Godspeed you black emperor!
New York
4th of April 2003
Nikon FM2, Tri-X 400 pushed to 3200 and with a shutter speed around half a second.
50mm diaphragm 1.8 or 2
It was dark there
I like the composition, the way it leaves a blank space at the top left for a little spotlight to sort of seep in. It looks good that the holes on the sides of the film - you know, the ones at the top and bottom here - are part of the pic, it adds to the sort of messiness going on in it and I love full-frame in general. It's a kind of dirty picture, with the blurriness and imperfections like the white at the left, which fits the motive and, even though I don't know the band, at least their name.
Especially the brightly lit face of the woman draws my attention to it all the time; I like how it looks like a mask, it has the flatness and shape of one. I also like the bow that kinda looks like a line of light. What bothers me, though, is that I can't see the whole picture at once because it's so big.
I love this kind of pictures in general.

I agree with hexocain on this, so I am not going to repeat everything he sai, but I'll add a couple of others.... I really like the frame, and the slightly grainy texture on the image, it adds a very antique look to it without going sepia. Nice work!
Very nice composition, Infact you made me want to redo my pics of them on here. I showing the show in chicago at the Abby Pub. Very nice work... you complement the band well.
hmm....i like this. very harsh colors. nice choice of b&w. pretty composition...i like how she's in focus on the right, while he's in the background. good work.
i feel like crying when i see pictures of gy!be, knowing that theyve played when i wasn't there. i never got the chance to see them. but this photo, and the other one, captures their essence beautifully.
Very Nice Shot of the best band I've heard (and that's saying quite allot!!) I wish I had the chance to see them live, I've seen ASMZ a couple of times and they where fucking amazing!

Across the globe, 27 million men, women, and children live in some form of slavery. That is more people at this moment than in all the centuries of the Atlantic Slave Trade. Something must be done. This contest serves two purposes: Raising awareness about human trafficking and raising funds for the Not For Sale organization.
Open to all mediums. Deadline is March 10, 2010 @ 11:59pm PST.
